Tubes Inc

Over at G-3 in the Lodhika GIDC, right off Kalawad Road in Metoda, is where you’ll find our unit. It’s a straightforward industrial space, which is exactly what you’d expect for a place called Tubes Inc. We deal with a lot of heavy inventory, so the ground floor location is pretty much a necessity for us. The big rolling shutter is almost always open during the day to let some air in and make it easier to load the trucks. Inside, it’s all metal and racks. There’s a certain smell to the place, a mix of cold steel and industrial grease, that you never really get out of your clothes. We’ve got a small area partitioned off for the computers and the billing, but even there, you can hear everything happening out on the floor. It’s not a quiet office job. We spend most of the day moving things around or checking the specs on a new batch. Kalawad Road is always busy, so the sounds of the highway blend in with our own workshop noises. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a polished showroom. Most of us just wear old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. It’s a practical business. We focus on the inventory and making sure the counts are right. Metoda is full of places like ours, where the work is more about physical effort than fancy presentations. It is hard work, but we are used to it.
