A. M. Ranpara

A. M. Ranpara is tucked away in the middle of Soni Bazar, which is always a bit of a chaotic scene. You have to find Rajni Chamber and then make your way up to the first floor. The stairs are narrow and a bit steep, so it’s a bit of a workout every time we have to run an errand. Being on the first floor gives us a bit of a break from the noise of the market below, but you can still hear the shouting and the bells. Our office is right opposite Pithwa Madhuli, which is a place everyone seems to know. It’s not a large space. We have a few cabinets filled with files that probably haven't been opened in years, but we keep them anyway. The light inside is a bit yellow from the old bulbs we use. We don't have a fancy sign or anything, just the name A. M. Ranpara painted on the glass door. Sometimes it gets quite hot in the afternoon, so we open the windows and let the smells of the bazaar drift in. It’s mostly the smell of street food and old buildings. We don’t have a boss who walks around in a suit. We all just wear what’s comfortable and get the work done. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way. We don't have meetings about goals or growth. We just handle the business that comes through the door each day.
