Shree Uma Stone

Our yard is located at G-2808 in the Metoda GIDC area of Rajkot, right behind the Tapi Cement plant. If you come through the Kranti Gate, we are not too hard to find. Shree Uma Stone is basically a place where we handle a lot of heavy lifting and stone cutting. The ground is always covered in stone dust and there is usually a crane moving some large slabs around. We deal with all sorts of local stone that comes in from the quarries. It is loud work because the saws are running most of the day, cutting blocks into sizes that people can actually use for their building projects. My brother and I run the daily operations along with a handful of workers who have been with us for years. We don't have a showroom with bright lights or anything like that. People usually just walk into the yard, look at the stacks of stone, and tell us what they need. We spend a lot of time checking the edges of the cuts to make sure they aren't too rough. Lunch is usually eaten sitting on some crates in the shade of the office porch. It is a practical business and we don't try to make it sound like something more than it is. We just cut the stone and load the trucks when they show up at the gate.
