Shiv Electrical is right at Sangada Chowk. If you’ve been through the chowk, you’ve probably passed us a hundred times. It’s a lively place to be, always something going on outside the door. We spend our days surrounded by wires, bulbs, and all sorts of electrical components. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific fuse because things get moved around, but we usually find it eventually. The air in the shop always has that faint smell of solder and old metal. We get all kinds of people coming in from the Sangada Chowk area. Some are in a hurry and some just want to talk while we look at their broken fans or switches. We don’t have any fancy displays. We just put things on the shelves where they fit. It’s practical work. It’s not always clean, and our hands are usually a bit dirty from the grease and dust. That’s just the job. We keep the lights on and keep working until it’s time to close up the shutters. It’s been this way for years. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just fixing things and selling what people need for their houses. It’s a good spot to be, right in the heart of the activity at the chowk. We see the same faces every day and it makes the work feel a bit more personal. It’s just us doing our bit for the neighborhood. Every time the power flickers on the block, someone usually pokes their head in to ask us what happened.
