It’s been a while since we set up at Royal Park. Being in the New Millenium Appt on University Road means there is always traffic and students passing by. Most days are spent organizing the racks or checking the new fabrics that came in. This is a small place, not a big showroom. People usually walk in because they live nearby or they’re heading to the university for classes. A lot of time goes into chatting with the regular ladies who come in to see what’s new this week. Sometimes the sunlight hits the front window just right and makes the whole shop look brighter than it actually is. Keeping things organized is the goal but sometimes the hangers get tangled up when it's busy. There isn't a huge staff, just a couple of us here making sure things are folded and put away. Outside, it gets quite noisy with the buses and cars, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the sewing machine or the radio playing in the background. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit over the years. New shops open up and old ones close down, but we are still here in our corner. It’s a simple life really. Every morning the shutters go up and we see who comes through the door. Usually, it’s just locals looking for something simple to wear for a wedding or a small function. Nothing fancy happens here, just standard stuff. The coffee mugs stay on the back counter.
