If you head over to Lati Plot and look for number 2, you’ll find where we work at Raj Clock Industries. We use P.B. No.158 for our mail, but the physical shop is right there in the thick of the industrial area. It’s a place where things are being made, so you can always hear some kind of noise, whether it’s a machine or just tools hitting the tables. We deal with clocks, so there is usually a constant ticking sound if you listen closely enough. The floors are concrete and there’s often a bit of dust because that’s just how it is in Lati Plot. We aren’t a big fancy company with a lobby; you pretty much walk into the workspace. There are parts and clock faces stacked on shelves everywhere you look. We spend our time putting things together or checking that the movements are working right. It’s a lot of sitting at benches with small screwdrivers. The area is full of other workshops, so there’s always a sense of everyone being busy with their hands. We drink a lot of chai during the day to stay sharp. It’s not the quietest place to work, but we like the rhythm of it. When the day is done, we lock up the shutters and head home, leaving the clocks to tick away in the dark. It’s just what we do.
