Over in the Jaynath Industrial Estate-5, near Lothda and Kothariya village, you can find Pamphilos Pumps. We take up a good stretch of space from Plot 8 all the way to 14. Being in Rajkot, we’re surrounded by other workshops, but our focus is strictly on pumps. It’s a lot of cast iron and mechanical parts moving around all day. The shop floor is usually a maze of pump housings and impellers waiting to be put together. We aren't big on titles or fancy uniforms here. You’ll find the owners right there on the floor most of the time, checking the assembly or talking to the guys. It gets pretty loud when we’re testing the motors, but that’s the sound of work being done. We started out small and just kept adding bits and pieces to the workshop as we needed more room. Now, with several plots, we have more space to store the finished pumps before they get shipped out. The weather in Gujarat can get really dry, so we keep plenty of water around for the team. We just try to make things that last. No one here is trying to be a corporate giant; we just want to make sure the pumps we send out don’t come back with problems. It’s a simple life at the estate, focused on the metal and the machines. We stay busy from morning till the sun goes down over Lothda.
