New Bombay Medical

Our shop is right at Trishul Chowk on Laxminagar Main Road. It is a very busy intersection in this part of town. There is always someone shouting or a rickshaw honking its horn at a pedestrian. New Bombay Medical has been at this spot for a long time. We have a small sign outside that is a bit faded from the sun and the rain. The interior is quite simple. We have white tiles on the walls and a heavy glass counter. I keep my pens in an old coffee tin on the desk. It is the little things that make the shop feel like home to us. We see a lot of people passing through Laxminagar. Some are just lost and need directions to the main market. Others have lived here for thirty years. We treat them all the same. The floor gets dirty quickly with all the foot traffic. I have to sweep it at least three times a day. We have a small stool for the older folks to sit on while they wait for their orders. It is not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just use the natural breeze when there is one. Sometimes the wind blows the dust in from the chowk. We just wipe the counters and keep going. It is a steady job and we are happy to be part of the neighborhood. We do not need much else besides our health and a bit of work to do.
