Shree Gayatri Saw Mill

If you head down Channi Road near the GEB substation, you will find Shree Gayatri Saw Mill. We are at Mavdiplot-4 in Navrangpara, pretty close to the Kishore Oil Mill and the NH-8 highway. It gets very dusty here because of all the wood we cut every day. The sound of the saws is something you never really stop hearing, even after you go home for the night. We’ve got stacks of lumber all over the place. My father worked with wood, and now I do too. It is hard work, especially in the summer when the heat coming off the metal roof is thick. We get all kinds of people coming by, from builders needing big beams to neighbors just looking for a few planks for a small project at home. The location near the highway makes it easy for the big trucks to get in and out, which is lucky for us. We don't have a fancy office or air conditioning. We just have the machines and the wood. Most of the guys have been working here for years, so we all know how the machines sound when they are working right and when they need a bit of oil. It is honest work and we take it one day at a time. Sometimes we sit outside by the gate when it's quiet to have some water. We don't bother with much paperwork besides what is absolutely necessary to keep things straight.
