N. V. Clean Cast

If you come down to G-738 in Lodhika Gidc, you'll find us working away in the heat. Casting metal is a heavy job, and it’s what we’ve been doing here in Metoda for years. The air always smells a bit like hot sand and iron, but you get used to it after the first week. We don't have any fancy receptionists or big glass windows at N. V. Clean Cast. It's mostly just the furnace and the molds. We spend most of our time making sure the pours go right and the finish is what it should be. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving things around the floor. My hands are usually covered in grit by lunchtime. We take our breaks together and talk about whatever is going on in the neighborhood. The shop stays busy because there's always someone needing parts cast. We don’t make a big fuss about things, we just put our heads down and get the orders done. Some days the humidity makes the shop feel even hotter, but the fans help a little. It’s a plain place, but it works for us. We’ve seen other shops come and go in the Gidc, but we’re still here at the same spot. It’s just about doing the work right and making sure we don't waste any material. That's how we spend our days, and it feels pretty good to see the finished products stacked up at the end of the shift.
