Mumbai Handicraft

Mumbai Handicraft is not located in some big industrial factory. We actually do our work right out of Flat No-552 in Block 23 of the Gujarat Housing Board. It is very close to Bhagatsingh Garden on University Road. It is a humble space but it serves us well enough for what we need to do. We usually have piles of items everywhere because we use every corner of the flat for storing and working. We do not have a showroom with bright lights or glass cases. If you want to see the things we make, you just have to come inside and look at what is sitting on the tables or leaning against the walls. It gets a little bit crowded in here sometimes. My family and a couple of local helpers are usually around working on various pieces throughout the day. We started this whole thing because we actually enjoy making things with our own hands. It is not about mass production for us. We just make what we can and sell it to people who seem to like the work. University Road is always noisy and busy with traffic, but inside the flat, it is mostly just the sound of our tools and us talking. We do not have a big website for shopping. We prefer to talk to people directly. Sometimes we sit and have tea while we talk about an order. It is an old way of doing things, but it works fine for us.
