Jay Vachharaj Engineering Works Tools is situated near the Mavdi Bypass. If you are looking for our shop, it is right by the Mavdi Main Road, very close to the Soljarbekare bakery. The smell of the bread and biscuits from the bakery is probably the best part of our location. It is a busy spot with lots of vehicles coming off the bypass and heading into the city. Our workshop is filled with all kinds of tools and engineering equipment. There is metal shavings on the floor most days and the workbenches are cluttered with whatever project we are currently handling. It is a loud place because of the grinding and the hammering that goes on. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that spin fast but don't do much when it is really hot. The walls have calendars and some old notes pinned to them. We spend most of the day in our overalls, getting our hands dirty. The traffic on the bypass never really stops, so there is always a sense of being in the middle of things. We just keep to ourselves and focus on the tools we are working on. It’s a practical kind of place where things get made and fixed. There’s no big reception desk, just a space where people can walk in and talk to whoever is free at the moment.
