Manikant Clinic

Out here on Bhavnagar Road, things move at their own pace. Manikant Clinic is right along the main stretch where the trucks and cars go by all day. You can hear the horns honking from the waiting area, which is just a few benches lined up against the wall. It is a simple place, really. We keep the files in big cabinets and there is a desk where we handle the paperwork. The sun comes through the front window in the afternoon and makes the room quite warm, so we usually have the fan going at full speed. It is not a shiny, modern office like you might see in a big city center, but it works for what we do. People from the nearby farms and houses come in when they aren't feeling well. We spend a lot of time talking to them about their day while we check their vitals. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so there is always someone wiping down the surfaces. It feels like a real part of the Bhavnagar Road landscape now. We’ve seen the seasons change from behind these windows many times. The floor is made of old tile that has some cracks, but it’s clean. We keep a water cooler in the corner for anyone who’s had a long walk to get here. It is just a straightforward spot for health stuff that people depend on.
