Working out at the 132 Kv Vajdi Sub Station on Kalawad Road in Rajkot is quite an experience. It’s located right near Vvp Engineering College. This isn't your typical office job. Being part of the Gujarat Energy Transmission setup means there’s always something to keep an eye on. The site is big, and it can get pretty dusty and hot out here under the sun. We spend a lot of time checking equipment and making sure the transmission stuff is all in order. It’s practical work. You won’t find any plush carpets or fancy coffee machines in our breakroom. We’ve got the basics and that’s plenty for what we need. The road outside is always busy with students and commuters going back and forth into Rajkot city. Sometimes it feels like we’re in our own little world at the substation. We don't talk in corporate jargon. We just speak plainly about what needs fixing or what needs a check-up. It’s a bit of a rough-and-ready environment. We wear our work boots and get on with it. Every day has its own set of challenges, whether it's the weather or a piece of equipment acting up. We just take it as it comes and try to do a solid day’s work. There is no need for anything extra. We just want to make sure the power keeps moving like it should. It’s what we do here. It's not about being noticed, it's just about keeping things running.
