If you find yourself on Santkabir Road near the old Octroi Naka, you’ll probably find Realwax Industries. We are located at the Decora building. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell of the wax. It’s a very specific scent that sticks to your clothes, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. We spend our days melting, mixing, and pouring. It’s a hot job, especially when the big vats are going full steam. The floors can get a bit slippery if someone isn't careful with the spills. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It is mostly just the production area and a small corner where we keep the books. The area near the old Octroi Naka is pretty traditional, and we fit right in with the other small industries around here. We have a small group of workers who have been with us since we started. We don't use much automation; a lot of the work is still done by hand because that’s just how we know to do it. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a minute. It’s a very grounded way to spend the day. We don't worry about big corporate goals. We just want to make sure the batch we’re working on today is as good as the one we made yesterday. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us all busy from morning until evening.
