I have been running Jaspreet Heer Furniture out of Satguru Nagar Society for quite a while now. If you are looking for us, we are right by Satellite Chowk on Morbi Road, just a little ways down from Madhuban School. It’s a busy spot, mostly because of the school traffic in the mornings and afternoons. My day usually starts early when I open up the shutters and start looking at what needs to be done. Sometimes there are piles of wood waiting to be cut and other times I am just finishing up a small cupboard for someone in the neighborhood. It is mostly me and a couple of guys working here. We don’t have fancy machines, just the standard tools that get the job done. The floor is usually covered in wood shavings by lunchtime, no matter how often we sweep. People stop by to ask if we can fix a broken chair leg or if we can build something they saw somewhere else. I try to be honest about how long things take. If I am busy, I will tell you. We don’t have a big showroom or anything like that. It is just a workspace where we get our hands dirty every day. Satguru Nagar is a good place to be, and many of our neighbors have become regular faces over the years. I guess that is just how it goes when you have been in one place for this long.
