Lakhani Engineering Works

You can find us right at Lakhani Estate. It’s directly opposite the Bhaktinagar Station on Tagore Marg. Being near the station means there’s always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Inside the workshop, we’re mostly busy with engineering jobs and metalwork. We’ve got lathes and various tools scattered around the floor. It’s a bit dusty, but that’s expected in this line of work. We take on whatever repairs or custom parts come our way. Sometimes a local guy drops by with a broken machine part that needs fixing, and other times we’re working on bigger batches for regular clients. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. My father started this place, and it hasn't changed much except for a few new tools here and there. The location is convenient for logistics because of the railway, though the traffic on Tagore Marg can be a real headache in the afternoons. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot. Most of the crew knows exactly what to do without being told. We don’t spend much time on talk; we just focus on the measurements and the cutting. It’s hard work, and your back might hurt by five o'clock, but there’s a sense of satisfaction in finishing a difficult piece.
