If you ever find yourself on Bhaktinagar Godown Road, look across from Shilp Tower and you’ll see our gate. Accurate Wood Works has been operating out of this spot in Rajkot for a good number of years. There is always a smell of fresh timber and sawdust hanging in the air here. It’s a noisy place with the saws running, and you usually have to shout to be heard. We spend our days measuring twice and cutting once, trying to make sure the pieces fit together like they’re supposed to. Our workshop isn't the tidiest place, but we have all the machines we need to get the wood shaped right. We handle a lot of heavy lifting, moving planks from one side of the godown to the other. Most of the guys here have been working with wood since they were young. It’s honest work that leaves you tired by the end of the day. We don't spend much time in the office; we’d rather be out on the floor where the real work happens. Sometimes things don’t go perfectly, and we have to start a piece over, but that’s just part of the craft. Rajkot is a busy city, and being on this road means we see a lot of trucks coming and going. We just stay focused on our piles of wood and the orders on the clipboard. It’s a solid way to make a living for all of us.
