Down here at Plot 2317 in GIDC Metoda, things stay pretty loud most of the time. Avr Valves Pvt. Ltd. is where we make all kinds of industrial valves. If you have ever been to the Lodhikarajkot area, you know it is mostly factories and industrial sheds. Our place is no different. It is a big space with machines running and people moving heavy metal parts around from morning until evening. We have been doing this for a while now. The air smells like oil and metal, which is just how it is when you are making things like this. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. It is just the guys on the floor and a few of us in the office area. We spend the day checking the casts and making sure the threads on the valves are right. It gets very hot in Rajkot, especially in the middle of the summer, but the work has to get done regardless of the weather. We load the trucks when they come by and keep track of the orders in some old ledgers and a computer that is a bit slow. It is honest work. People need valves for their pipes and machines, so we keep making them. We just focus on getting the orders out to the people who need them without making a big fuss about it. The day usually ends with us cleaning up the shavings from the floor.
