Raj Poly Plast

Our unit is at 6/4/161 in Kattedan. We are situated right near Annapurna Chemicals, so you can usually smell the chemicals in the air before you even see our gate. It’s a very industrial part of the city. We work with poly plastics, which involves a lot of heat and melting. The machines we use are old but they still get the job done if you treat them right. We spend most of the morning getting the heaters up to the right temperature. If they aren't hot enough, the plastic doesn't flow right and we end up wasting material. There is a lot of scrap that gets generated, so we have to spend time at the end of every shift cleaning the floor and sorting the waste into different bins. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who have been working together for a long time. We don't have a fancy break room, we just sit on some crates and have our tiffin when we get a chance. The noise is constant, so you have to shout a bit to be heard over the hum of the motors and the fans. Kattedan is a tough place to work because of the dust and the heat, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We just focus on the orders we have for the week and try to stay on schedule. It’s nothing special, just a regular factory setup where we put in the hours.
