J.K.Cement Cement Works

J.K.Cement Cement Works is based in Neemuch, over in Madhya Pradesh. It’s a pretty straightforward place. The air is often a bit heavy with dust because of what we do, and the sun in M.P. can be really unforgiving in the summer months. Most of us here have been around for a long time. We don't have any fancy office furniture or big shiny lobbies. It's just a set of desks, some plastic chairs for whoever drops in, and a lot of ledger books. You can hear the trucks idling outside quite often. They come and go all day long. Sometimes we have to shout over the engine noise just to hear each other talk. It’s not the quietest spot, but it’s where we get things done. We don't spend much time on fancy speeches or trying to look bigger than we are. There is a small tea stall just down the road that serves us tea in glass cups twice a day. That’s pretty much the routine. The floors are a bit stained and the ceiling fans make a clicking sound, but they work. We know the people in the neighborhood and they know us. It’s a local operation and we don’t try to act like we’re in a big city skyscraper. We just handle the cement and the paperwork and try to keep things moving. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. The dust is just part of the job we do.
