Administrative Assistant

Out here in Ward No. 13 in Bissau, things move at a different pace. I work as the administrative assistant, which basically means I handle whatever comes through the door. Rajasthan can get incredibly hot in the summer, so our office is usually a bit of a refuge once we get the fans going. It’s a local setup, nothing like those big corporate buildings you see in Jaipur or Delhi. We have a few desks, a lot of paper stacks, and a tea kettle that’s almost always on. My day is mostly spent typing up notes, filing documents, and talking to the locals who stop by with questions. I’ve lived in this area most of my life, so I know most of the people who come in. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out or work by the window light. It’s not a perfect system, but we make it work. I try to keep the records straight, even when the filing cabinets get a bit jammed. It’s honest work, and I like being close to home. The address is easy to find if you know the ward, though visitors sometimes get turned around on the smaller streets. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the office where we do the daily administrative tasks. It is just a regular part of life here in Bissau and we try to stay on top of the local needs.
