Jain Stone

Down here in Kota, stone is what everyone knows and talks about. We’ve been operating as Jain Stone for quite some time now and we've seen the industry change. This part of Rajasthan is famous for its rocks, and we are situated right in the middle of all that activity. It’s a dusty business, honestly. You can’t really avoid the grit and the sand when you work with stone all day long. We spend most of our time outdoors or in the big shed when the weather is bad. The sun gets really intense in this region, so we usually try to start very early to beat the heat when we can. It’s just a regular yard with piles of material waiting to be loaded and sent out. We don’t have a big front office or a team of professional receptionists waiting to greet you. Usually, you’ll just find one of us walking around with a clipboard or checking the latest load that came in. We handle the local stuff and whatever else comes our way from different parts. People in town know our name, and we know most of them too. It’s the kind of business where a handshake still means something important. We don’t do much advertising; the work usually speaks for itself over time. The equipment is a bit old but it works perfectly fine for what we need to do. It’s a simple life, moving heavy things from one spot to another and making sure the sizes are right.
