In Jain Samaj Trust As A Project Engineer

I work out of Laxmipura in Barmer, specifically at house number 384. My name is Ranulal Khatri, and I’m the son of Shri Damumal Khatri. My role involves being a project engineer for the Jain Samaj Trust. Barmer can be a pretty rugged place with the desert heat, but we stay busy with various community projects throughout the year. Working for a trust is different than a regular commercial job. There is a lot of focus on things that help the community and the local members. I spend a lot of my time looking over plans, visiting construction sites, and making sure the engineering side of things is sound and safe. We have several different buildings and initiatives we look after. It’s not just about one project; it’s a whole series of tasks that keep the trust running smoothly for everyone involved. My father taught me the value of hard work, and I try to bring that to my job every single day. The office is simple, filled with dusty files and old maps of the area. We don't have any corporate polish or fancy talk here. We just talk about what needs to be built or repaired and then we figure out how to do it with the resources we have at hand. Sometimes we have to wait on materials to arrive from outside the district, which can be frustrating. But we just keep at it. It’s a good feeling to see a project finished and being used by the people here.
