Our office is right across from the Shitala Mata Temple in Malawati, Sarupganj. It’s a nice landmark to have. You can hear the bells ringing in the morning and evening, which gives the place a calm feeling, even when we are busy with cement loads. We are based with Manohar Das Vaishnav here. It’s a small-town operation, very different from the big city offices. Most of our customers are locals from the village or nearby parts of Sirohi. They drop by to chat as much as they do to talk about business. We keep the Shree Cement Ltd. records in a simple desk drawer. The walls have a few old calendars on them. We don't use a lot of fancy technology; a pen and a ledger usually do the trick for us. When the weather is good, we sit outside on a bench and wait for the deliveries to come in from the plant. It’s a slow-paced life, but the work is steady. We know who is building a new room or fixing a roof in the area. People trust us because we’ve been here a long time and know the land. The temple across the street is a good guide for anyone trying to find us for the first time. We just keep things moving and make sure the cement bags stay dry during the monsoon season. We aren't doing anything complicated, just helping our neighbors build their homes one bag at a time.
