Pragathi Engineering Works

You can find our workshop located right on Medipalli Road in the Ramagundam area. It is a place filled with the sounds of metal hitting metal and the bright sparks from the welding torch. We work with iron and steel every day, making things like gates, window frames, or repairing old tractor parts for the local farmers. The floor is always covered in small bits of metal and dust, and the air has that distinct smell of hot machinery. It gets very hot here, especially in the afternoons, so we have a large ceiling fan that moves the air around, though it doesn't do much against the heat of the welding. We don't have any high-tech equipment or computer-controlled machines. Everything we do is by hand, using the same old tools we have had for a long time. We take our measurements carefully because we don't want to waste any material. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought, but we prefer to get the joints strong rather than rushing through it. The villagers from Medipalli often stop by to ask if we can fix a broken hinge or sharpen a tool. We keep the big metal shutters open all day so we can see what’s happening on the road. It’s loud and dirty work, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep our heads down and finish the projects one by one.
