Akira Eye Hospital

This is another entry for Akira Eye Hospital in Aryapuram. Even though the address just says Aryapuram, it’s a busy part of town. Working here means seeing a constant stream of people every day. We start the morning by wiping down the eye testing equipment. Dust is a constant battle, so we have to be careful. The hospital isn't a massive corporate building. It’s more of a local place where people feel comfortable walking in. We have a small area where people can pick out frames if they need glasses. It’s always interesting to see what styles they choose. Some want the thick black ones and others want something that hides on their face. The staff here is small, and we’ve worked together for a long time. We know who is good at the paperwork and who is better at handling the busy afternoon crowd. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. People mostly find out about us from their neighbors or family members. We have a water cooler in the corner that gets a lot of use. Sometimes when it’s raining, the noise on the roof is so loud we can barely hear the patients. We just wait it out. It’s a simple, practical life at the hospital. We just focus on the eyes and making sure we get the prescriptions right. When the sun goes down, we finish up the last few charts and head home.
