Down here in Mayurbhanj, things move at their own pace, and that includes life at Seemanta Institute Of Pharmaceutical Sciences. It’s mostly just us, the students, and the labs. You’ll usually find someone working late on a project or sitting out on the steps during a break. We deal with a lot of chemicals and equipment every day, so there is always a bit of that lab smell hanging in the hallways. It’s not a huge place, but it fills up fast when classes are in session. People come from different parts of the district to study here. The building itself has seen better days, maybe needs a little work on the roof, but it stays cool enough in the summer. We spend a lot of time looking at slides and writing up notes. It is a lot of hard work, honestly. The staff mostly just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the supplies are stocked up. Sometimes we run out of beakers or need to order more reagents, and that takes a while to arrive out here. But we make do with what we have. It’s a quiet spot for the most part, away from the main noise of the town. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It feels like a small community where everyone is just trying to learn something useful for the future.
