Sri Sur Sangeet Music School

I’ve been teaching music here at the Remo Kids Academy building for a while now. Most days it’s just the sound of instruments and kids trying to get their scales right. Sri Sur Sangeet Music School is tucked away in the Panchpadhi Naka area of Raipur. It isn't a fancy place with soundproof glass and high-tech gear, just rooms with instruments and people who want to learn how to play them. Some days the humidity in Chhattisgarh makes the strings go out of tune constantly. We spend a lot of time just tuning up before the real practice starts. It gets busy in the afternoons when school lets out. The kids come in with their heavy bags and sit down to practice. We mostly focus on getting the basics down. It's not always pretty sounds coming out of the rooms, especially when someone is just starting with a new instrument. But that is how it goes. The neighborhood around Raipur Ho knows us by the noise we make. People drop by to ask about classes while they're out running errands. We don't have a big office or anything. Just a desk and some chairs. It’s a simple setup. Some students stay for years and others just want to learn one song for a wedding or something. Either way, we just sit down and get to work on the notes. It’s a bit cramped sometimes but it works for us and the neighbors don't complain much.
