Modis Fabworld is situated in the Pandri Cloth Market, right near the Baroda Bank. Megha Modi is the one running things here. If you’ve ever been to Pandri, you know it’s the place to be for fabric. Our shop is surrounded by rolls of cloth and the sound of people haggling over prices. We don't have a minimalist showroom with mood lighting. It’s more about stacks of fabric reaching the ceiling and finding that one specific color a customer is looking for. We handle all sorts of textiles. Some days are incredibly busy with weddings and festivals, and other days we just sit and reorganize the shelves. We aren't some big fashion house. We just sell fabric to people who want to make something nice. The market is a noisy, vibrant place and we’ve been part of it for a while now. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just know our cloth and we know our customers. It can get pretty cramped in here when we get new shipments in, but we manage. You’ll usually find Megha or one of the staff members helping someone measure out a few meters of cotton or silk. It’s a straightforward business. We like the energy of the cloth market and the people we meet every day. There’s no big mystery to it, just honest trade in a busy Raipur market. We’re just glad to be here doing this.
