Mahendra Sponge & Power (P) Ltd., Siltara Raipur

Our setup is out in Siltara, Raipur. If you know the area, you know it's a lot of industry and power plants. We’re Mahendra Sponge & Power (P) Ltd. You can find our office behind the Shakti Provision Store in Khamtarai. It’s near Sanyashipara and the WRS Colony. To be honest, it’s a dusty part of the world because of all the industrial activity, but that’s where the work is. We share the space with Shri G.S. Mishra’s place. It’s a very practical arrangement for us. We don't have a polished showroom or anything like that. Our day is mostly spent dealing with the logistics of sponge iron and power production. It's heavy work and it's often quite hot in Raipur. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking over technical sheets. People in the colony know where we are because of the provision store landmark. It's a small team here, and we all know our roles. We don't use big words to describe what we do; we just produce what we need to and manage the site. It’s an honest way to make a living. The office is simple, just some chairs, a couple of fans, and a lot of logbooks. We’ve been in this part of Raipur for a long time, so we’re used to the noise and the trucks passing by. It’s just how things go here for us.
