If you look for us, you’ll find us at Quarter No. C-69 inside the Sonadih Cement Plant. We are part of Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd and our location is a bit out of the way near Balodabazar. It is a long drive from Raipur but this is where the action is. Living and working at the plant site means you get used to the sound of machinery and the trucks coming and going all day. The post goes to Raseda first before it gets to us. It is a proper industrial site, not some fancy glass building in a city. We spend our days dealing with the actual production and making sure things move along. It gets dusty here, but that is part of the job. There is a small community of us living in these quarters. We eat at the mess and talk about work even when we are off. The surroundings are mostly open land and fields until you get to the plant gates. We’ve got everything we need right here though. It is a practical life. Sometimes we have to go into town for supplies, but mostly we stay put. Dealing with the heat in Chhattisgarh is a daily thing. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing. The plant is huge, but C-69 is where we keep the records and handle the small details for this section.
