If you travel to Sohanpur village in the Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, you will find Jorawar Engg. & Foundry Forge Pvt Ltd. We are right in the village, near the post office. It is a very rural setting, far away from the big city noise. Our facility is where the foundry and forging work happens. It is a loud place with the sound of hammers and the heat from the furnaces. The air always smells a bit like smoke and metal. We have a small office section at the front where we keep the books and handle the orders, but most of the action is in the back. The workers are mostly from the surrounding villages. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. It’s not a polished corporate environment; there’s dust on the ledgers and the furniture is simple wood. We deal with iron and steel every day, making parts that people need for various machines. The roads leading to Sohanpur can be rough during the monsoon, which makes getting materials in and out a bit of a challenge. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures. People know about us through word of mouth or by just seeing the chimney from the road. It’s honest, manual work that keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We take a long break in the middle of the day when the sun is at its peak to rest.
