Our place is at House No. 53, which is part of the JB 02 area on Darri Road. We are right in the heart of Purani Basti, so things are a bit different here than in the newer parts of town. It feels more like a home than an office because, well, it actually is a house. We are quite close to Gayatri Mandir Mungel, so we often hear the temple bells or people walking by on their way there. The street is narrow, and neighbors are always chatting outside. We have been here for a long time, and everyone on the block knows us. Inside, we have converted some of the rooms into workspace. There are shelves filled with files and a couple of old desks where we sit. It isn’t the kind of place with a big sign or a fancy lobby. We just have our names on a small board near the entrance. The floor is old stone, and it stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just life in this neighborhood. We usually have a lot of tea and talk about the local news while we work. It’s a quiet life for the most part, and we like being part of the community here. It’s comfortable and familiar, which is exactly how we like to keep things for ourselves.
