Global Packaging

Global Packaging is run out of A-13Balaji Homes. It’s a bit unusual having a packaging business in a place like this, but it works for us. The garage and the main floor are usually stacked high with cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and rolls of tape. It can get a bit cramped when a big shipment arrives and we have to move everything around to make room. The neighbors are used to the delivery trucks coming in and out by now. We spend most of the day measuring things and cutting materials to size. It’s dusty work because of all the paper fibers in the air. We don’t have a fancy front desk or anything. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in the back with a tape gun in hand. Sometimes the tape gets stuck or the boxes aren't the right size, and we have to start over. It’s not a high-tech operation, just a lot of manual labor and making sure things are packed tight so they don't break. We drink a lot of tea to keep going, especially in the afternoons. The floor is usually covered in scraps of plastic and cardboard by the end of the shift. We try to sweep up, but it never stays clean for long. It’s a practical business, nothing more. We have a stack of old newspapers in the corner for padding. Every time the wind blows, a few of them fly around the room. It’s a bit of a mess, but we manage to find what we need to get through the day.
