Csvtu Foundation For Rural Technology And Entrepreneurship

Our foundation is based on the campus of the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University in Newai. We’re located in a small office near the main university buildings. Being on campus means we’re surrounded by students and teachers all the time. It’s a busy place with a lot of movement. We focus on rural technology and helping folks start their own businesses. It’s not as complicated as the name makes it sound. Mostly, we just look at practical ways to make things work better in the surrounding villages. We have a few computers and some old desks, but we spend a lot of our time out in the field. The roads around Newai can be a bit rough, so we do a lot of walking or take the local bus. We don't have a big corporate budget. We just use what the university provides and make it stretch. It gets very hot here, so the office can be a bit stuffy in the summer months. We don't wear suits or have big meetings. We just sit down and talk through ideas with anyone who comes by. It’s a good way to bridge the gap between what’s taught in school and what’s actually happening in the villages. We’re just a small group of people trying to be useful. The post office in Newai is close by, so we handle a lot of mail. We just take things one day at a time.
