Balaji Pulses

We’re over in Chandkhuri, working with pulses. It’s a pretty straightforward setup we’ve got here. We deal with lentils and beans mostly, sorting them and getting them ready for the market. It’s dusty work sometimes, but that’s part of it. We don’t have a big fancy storefront. It’s more of a warehouse feel where the real work happens. We’ve been in Chandkhuri for a bit and the locals know us. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide what people need for their kitchens. Every morning starts with checking the bags. We have to make sure everything is dry and looks right. If it’s not right, we don’t send it out. It’s as simple as that. There are no corporate meetings here, just us talking over tea about what needs to be done for the day. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains and we have to worry about the moisture in the air. But we manage. We’ve got a small crew and we all pitch in. It’s not the kind of job where you sit at a desk all day. You’re on your feet, moving bags and checking the quality of the grains. We like the pace of it. It’s honest work and it keeps us connected to the ground. If you need pulses, this is where we do all the heavy lifting and sorting by hand.
