You can find us in the village of Chhapora, which is part of the Pussore block in Raigarh. Our office is basically at the house of Mr. Ram Kumar Thawait, so it’s very much a local, village-based operation. It’s quite peaceful out here compared to the big cities. We deal with the daily tasks while the life of the village goes on around us. You’ll see people heading to the fields or the block office while we are working on our ledgers. The address is simple, just Village & Post Chhapora, and everyone around here knows where it is. We don’t have a big staff, just a few people who know the area well. Chhattisgarh summers are tough, but the thick walls of the building keep it somewhat cool inside. We handle a lot of the local coordination and paperwork that comes with being part of Balco in this region. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don’t use much high-tech stuff, just the basics to keep the records straight. Most days are about talking to people and making sure the supplies or documents are getting to where they need to go. It’s a grounded way of working, and we appreciate the slower pace of the village. There’s no rush here, just a steady push to get things finished before the sun goes down and the insects start buzzing around the lamps. We share lunch together most afternoons and usually talk about the local crops or the weather.
