Shree Durga Agengies

If you ever find yourself at Ganja Chowk, you’ll probably see us. Shree Durga Agengies is right there in the Sonar Para area, which is a very busy part of the neighborhood. We are also very close to the Jama Maszid, so we hear the calls to prayer throughout the day. It’s a lively place to work, with lots of people walking by and scooters honking in the street. Our shop is old and has seen a lot of years, with walls that could probably tell some stories if they could talk. We deal with a lot of different goods and spend a lot of time talking to customers who drop by. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the shop that people have to wait outside on the sidewalk. We don't have any fancy computers or modern systems; we still do most of our accounts in paper books. It feels more personal that way, even if it takes a bit longer. The smell of street food from the vendors in the chowk often drifts inside, which makes us hungry before lunchtime. We usually close up for a bit in the middle of the day when the sun is at its peak. It’s a community where everyone knows everyone else’s business, and we like being part of that. We just focus on our daily tasks and try to keep things organized in the middle of all the chaos.
