P. R. Dewangan Handloom

You can find P. R. Dewangan Handloom right on Durga Mandir Road, not far from the Old Bus Stand. It's a spot that’s been part of this street for quite some time now. We deal with handloom work, so the place is usually filled with the sound of looms and the smell of cotton. It's a bit cramped inside because we have a lot of stuff piled up. People passing by the Durga Mandir often pop in just to see what we are working on. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a very local operation. We don’t do much advertising, mostly people just know us from being near the bus stand all these years. The floors are a bit uneven and the walls could use some paint, but the work we do is what matters. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the traffic outside on Durga Mandir Road, but we’re used to it by now. We spend our days handling thread and checking the patterns as they come off the frame. It’s slow work, not like the big factories, but that is just the way handloom goes. We try to stay open until the evening rush is over. It’s just a simple shop where we do what we know how to do best, right here in the neighborhood. We aren't fancy people, just weavers who have been in this spot for years.
