Mona Modern English Medium School

We’ve been here in Sarangarh for quite a while now. Most people around Raigarh know where we are. It’s just a normal school building on the side of the road, nothing too fancy to look at from the outside. Every morning, the gates open and the kids start trickling in from different parts of the district. Some come by bus and others just walk if they live close enough. You can hear the noise of the playground from a block away when it's recess time. We try to keep the classrooms tidy, but with so many students running around, there is always a bit of dust or a stray pencil on the floor. The teachers here are mostly locals who have lived in Chhattisgarh their whole lives. We just go about our day, teaching the lessons and making sure the kids stay out of trouble. Sometimes the fans are a bit loud during the summer months, but we get used to it. Parents often drop by to talk about their kids' grades or just to see how things are going. It’s a busy place, especially when it’s time for exams or the annual sports day. It feels like a small community inside these walls. We’ve seen many groups of students pass through and move on to bigger towns. It's just what we do here in Sarangarh. You can see the old water tank from the second-floor windows. We just worry about the kids getting through their lessons and passing their exams so they can find good work later on.
