Maa Sarada Medicine

We are located on Anil Roy Sarani, right in the Collegepara area of Raiganj. It’s a lively part of town because of the college students always walking around with their books. Maa Sarada Medicine is a small shop, squeezed between a few other local businesses. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we have to use a wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It’s a bit rickety, that ladder, but it has held up for years. We spend a lot of time dusting. There is always dust coming in from the road. The morning starts with opening the shutters, which always make a loud grinding sound that the neighbors probably hate. Then we sweep the floor and start looking over the orders. We don't have a computer system that does everything for us, so there is a lot of manual counting. It can be tedious but it’s just part of the routine. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit until it comes back on. We usually just chat or watch the people go by on the street during those times. Raiganj is a decent place to be. The community is tight and everyone knows we are here if they need something. We don't do anything fancy, just keep the stock ready and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It’s a simple life and we are happy with it.
