The Born Again Clinic

The Born Again Clinic is located out in Damote Village, which is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the main city areas. We are on the Neral Kalamb road in the Karjat Taluka area, so the surroundings are much greener and quieter than what you find in Mumbai. Most of the people who come here are locals from the village or the nearby farms who need medical attention but can't always travel long distances. The building is basic and fits in with the rest of the village architecture. We don't have fancy paved parking lots or glass elevators here. It’s just a solid place where people come when they are feeling unwell or need some help getting their health back on track. The name reflects what we hope happens for the patients, but we don't make a big deal out of it. Most days involve a lot of listening to people describe their aches while the sound of goats or passing bikes comes in through the window. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, but we have some good fans to keep the air moving. Life moves a bit slower here in Neral, and we try to keep the clinic running at a pace that matches the needs of the community without rushing anyone out the door too quickly. It is just a part of the daily life around this road.
