Plot 47 in the New Chemical Zone of MIDC is where we spend our days. It’s a different kind of environment here compared to the general industrial parks. There are a lot of pipes, valves, and storage tanks around the facility. We have to be careful about where we step and what we touch, so everyone wears heavy boots and work clothes that can take a bit of a beating. The air has a faint chemical scent that you get used to after about ten minutes. Our building is a simple structure made of concrete and steel, designed more for function than anything else. Inside, the floors are treated to handle spills, and there’s a lot of specialized equipment for mixing and processing. We keep a close eye on the temperature gauges and pressure valves throughout the shift. The paperwork is actually the most boring part, filling out logs every hour to make sure everything is within the right parameters. We have a small break room where we keep our tiffins, but most of the time we are out on the floor. The trucks come in through the main MIDC gate and navigate the narrow roads to reach our loading bay. It’s a steady pace of work, and we don't really have a lot of visitors. We’ve been part of this chemical zone for a while, and we just focus on the batches we have to run each week. It’s a specialized job, but we treat it like any other trade.
