Sahil Industries, Chakan

Sahil Industries is located out in Chakan, which has really grown over the years. We’re at Gat No- 100/2 on the Chakan-Ambethan Road. If you know the area, we’re near the Telephone Exchange in Kharabwadi, part of the WMDC section. Being in Pune’s industrial belt means it’s always active around here. We do a lot of fabrication and industrial parts work. It’s the kind of place where you’ll always find someone with grease on their hands. The workshop floor has a lot of tools and metal scraps lying around. It's not a showroom, it's a place where things actually get made. We’ve got some heavy machinery for cutting and shaping metal. The traffic on the Ambethan Road can be a nightmare in the evenings, but that’s just Chakan for you. Most of the guys working here have been with us for a good bit. We don't spend money on fancy signs or expensive furniture. We'd rather keep the machines running well. If a customer comes in with a drawing, we look at it and see if we can build it. Sometimes it's a simple part, other times it's more complicated. We just take it day by day. It’s dusty and loud, but we like the work. It feels good to see a finished product loaded onto a truck at the end of the shift. The office is just a desk in the corner where we handle the bills and logs.
