Haslani Rice Mill

Haslani Rice Mill is located at Building No-197 in Alibag, within the Raigad district. Running a rice mill is hard work and it starts early in the morning. We take the raw paddy and process it so it’s ready for people to use. The machines make a lot of noise and there is always a bit of husk in the air, but that is just the sound and smell of work to us. We’ve been at this Alibag location for a long time. People from the nearby villages bring their harvest here, and we help them get it ready for the market. It’s not a fancy setup with computers and air conditioning. It is a real mill where things get dirty and hands get rough. We handle everything from the cleaning to the hulling. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves, which can be a bit of a headache. Raigad has a lot of rice fields, so there is always work to be done. We don't bother with advertising or anything like that. The word gets around by itself. We just want to do a decent job with the grain so that when it hits the plate, it tastes like it should. Our building is a simple structure that has seen a lot of seasons. We stay busy and we stay local, just focusing on the mill and the rice. It’s a life that keeps us connected to the ground.
