Bodhi Foundation For Sustainable Initiatives is located at house number 192 in Vasunde, Raigarh. It’s a bit of a rural setting, which suits us just fine since we focus on sustainable initiatives. Being out here in Raigarh means we are close to the land and the people who work it. The building is simple, just a regular structure that we’ve turned into our base. We don't have air conditioning or fancy elevators. We have the trees and the open air instead. Most of our work involves walking around the village or visiting nearby farms. We spend a lot of time talking about water, soil, and how to keep things growing for the long term. The pace of life here is slower than in Mumbai or Pune, and we like it that way. It gives us time to actually listen to what people are saying. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, so we just sit outside and continue our discussions there. We aren't a big NGO with a lot of funding; we are just a group of people who care about how our environment is changing. Our office is often filled with seeds, samples, and maps of the local area. It’s a hands-on kind of place where things get a bit messy, but that's part of the process. We use a lot of recycled paper for our notes and keep everything organized in old crates. The local kids sometimes peer through the windows to see what we are doing.
