Akshaya134 Caring Hands Foundation

If you go to Flat 102 in the Sharda Sagar building, you will find us. We are in Sector 10 of New Panvel, right near Shivam Arcade. It’s a residential area, so it feels very quiet compared to the main road. We use this flat as our base for the foundation. It’s not like those offices you see in movies. There are no cubicles or water coolers. It’s just a home that we turned into a workspace. We have some files stacked in the corner and a few chairs for visitors. Most of us who work here live in Panvel ourselves, so we don't have to travel far. We started Akshaya134 because we wanted to give a hand to people who are struggling. It’s not complicated. If we see someone who needs something, we try to find a way to get it for them. Sometimes we spend the whole day on the phone trying to coordinate things. Other days we are out and about in the neighborhood. We don't have a big mission statement written on the wall. We just know what needs to be done each day and we try to get through the list. It’s a bit informal, maybe, but it feels right for us. We have our tea breaks on the balcony and talk about the weather or the local news. It’s a small operation, but we are happy with it. We try to keep things practical and useful for everyone.
