About Aishwarya Kirana Shop – Food & Beverages in Raigad
The shop is at Shop No 5 in the Rural Complex, right near the Murud Bus Stand. It is a small place but we keep a bit of everything on the shelves like pulses, soaps, and biscuits. Being near the bus stand means people are always running in to grab something quick before their bus leaves. I spend most of my day sitting behind the wooden counter weighing out items or counting change. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling and I have to use a small stool to reach the stuff on top. It gets quite noisy with the conductors shouting out the destinations and the old buses idling right outside the door. I have some jars of sweets right at the front for the kids who come by after school. The floor is just stone and it gets worn down in the spots where people stand the most. I usually keep a notebook to write down what we are running low on so I can get more from the wholesaler. Sometimes when the electricity goes out, I just sit in the doorway to get some light and air. It’s a simple life and I’ve known most of the people who walk past for years. The dust from the bus tires is a bit of a problem but I keep a rag handy to wipe the counter every hour or so. It is just a regular local shop.
