Sree Vasavi Kirana & General Stores

If you walk through the Golthana area in Raichur, you’ll find us at 48/52/12. Sree Vasavi Kirana & General Stores has been a part of this street for quite a while now. We sell everything from dal and rice to little toys for the kids. The shop is pretty packed, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. We use old wooden counters that have been worn smooth over the years by people leaning on them while they wait for their orders to be bagged. Raichur can be very dry, so we keep the shop as cool as we can with a couple of old fans that rattle a bit. We get our supplies from the wholesale market, and hauling those heavy sacks inside is the hardest part of the job. Sometimes the labels on the jars get a bit faded from the sun, but we know what's inside each one. We don't have any fancy displays or bright signs. Most people find us because they live just around the corner and have been coming here since they were small. It’s a busy life, especially during festival times when everyone needs extra supplies at the last minute. We just keep our heads down and serve the people who walk through the door. It’s not a complicated business, just a local store trying to keep the shelves full for the neighbors.
